B.hybrid
Hi Daniel, an interesting cross this one, I would have thought that with having up to 16" long flowers of B.echinolabium as one of the parents the flowers would have been much larger?

'dominant' parent
It seems that B. lasiochilum is the 'dominant' parent here.

Well, yea it doesn't have the length of B. echinolabium. It's only about 4-6cm in total length. Still turns out to be an interesting hybrid though. And most important, it's free flowering.
Regards, Daniel.

Free flowering is one of the traits of B. lasiochilum...well for me it is anyway.

Bulbophyllum hybridizing
Who would have thought that little old rambling lasiochilum would have dominated this cross?.I must confess that I have done a few crosses myself with Bulbophyllum and been mostly surprised by the results.

Bulbophyllum crosses
The thing that strikes me with Bulbophyllum crosses is that most are primary hybrids and that in general they don't really do that much to better the species which are the parents unfortunately. There are some which are quite good but in general most of the primaries I have seen are a bit of a disappointment really.
