Miltonia moreliana A.Rich., Portef. Hortic. 2: 38 (1848).
Synonym: Miltonia spectabilis var. moreliana (A.Rich.) Henfr., Gard. Mag. (London) 3: 41 (1851).
Distribution: Venezuela, Brazil (SE. Bahia to N. Espírito Santo)
Miltonia moreliana is all over dark plum, plum purple form. Lip bright rose.
The plants do well in a shallow pot with a coarse mix topped with finer media. They also do well in a basket and on a treefern or cork mount if extra water is given. Give them bright light, good air movement and water and fertilise well when they are growing. This species will develop into quite large, very showy clumps if given room and grown well.
